bee keeper vintage: fallin' in love

It's no secret that I love, love, love fall! My favorite boots sit where I can see them all summer in anticipation of cooler air, crisp leaves, and hot spiced lattes. I have been hunting down fall pieces for my vintage shop. I am taking a break from dresses and sweaters to look for the things I really love: bags, beads, and little accessories! These new pieces plus more are in my bee keeper shop today.

last days of summer sale!

With September here summer is truly fading away. It is time for a good vintage shop clean out of the spring and summer prints, bright heels, and sheer dresses. Almost everything is now 50% off through the end of this month! My next project? Stock my vintage shop with sweet details for the fall and winter including home decor, heavy metal jewelry, boots, and warm hats.

bee keeper vintage: cotton candy

This collection is all made of cotton, who doesn't love the soft summer feel of cotton?! I took myself on a thrifting date just a couple days ago and collected a couple great things! I was so happy to stumble on this new mellow yellow pleated dress, got it to the fitting room and it was a tad too small (sad face), but this means it is going in the bee keeper vintage shop! She is a lovely dress though, just in time for the end of summer. But this new slip dress, I am holding onto that one for awhile. It feels too good on to let go of!

I am making a plan to vamp up the vintage shop, add a few new things, take new photos, and fall back in love with my store! Very soon...stay tuned!

bee Keeper Collection: in the garden

Oh the rain just won't quit in our sweet Portland, however that means the flowers are in full bloom! Amongst all the green and leafy trees are bright + bold blooms, my very favorite part of this darling city. This simply cotton bag is perfect for the season, if it doesn't get drenched of course. Find each piece in my shop!

Bee Keeper Collection: subtle for spring

Here is a subtle and muted collection for spring! Our weather in my fair city has not decided yet if it is time for rain coats and boots or summer dresses and sandals. Closed toe shoes are still needed, but that doesn't mean they can't be soft for the season. I love this collection because the accessories only make the dress stand out just that much more! Find each piece in my shop.

Bee Keeper Collection: Closet Cleanout!

(Congratulations Ashley! Thank you to all who entered my first giveaway, it won't be the last!)

I am cleaning out the Bee Keeper closet! Don't worry, I am not going anywhere, I am just making room for more of the sweeter side of vintage that I love. I am cleaning out the closet so I can make more room to fill it with handbags, scarves, jewelry, delicates, tea cups + plenty of darling shoes. Jackets, sweaters, blouses, + blazers are getting marked down now!

Bee Keeper Collection: in the details

I find that looking for vintage accessories is my favorite part. The shoes, handbags, jewelry, and scarves always jump out at me. I adore all things vintage, but tend to gravitate towards the little details. Next to vintage slip dresses, vintage accessories were my next favorite thing to collect. Being that most days of the week my favorite things to wear are jeans and comfy sweaters adding layers of pendants, and vintage heels create style and a great story. That is what I love to sell!

Bee Keeper Collection: garden party

Finding this floral skirt was the highlight of my most recent thrifting session. Skirts tend to be difficult for me to find, shoes often just jump out at me, but skirts are more hidden. But being that we are entering the heart of spring, skirts are also my favorite thing to wear. Easy to dress up or down, this floral pleated skirt is classic and darling at the same time!

Bee Keeper Collection: a softer side

I am a big fan of layering fabrics, colors, and various textures. No matter the season, layering can create dimension and still not be overpowering. I would downplay this combination with a pair of worn in jeans rolled up just a tad, or that kind that hit you at the ankle with a touch of flair. The blue in the denim, these heels + handbag allow the softness of the blonde color in the top and sweater look playful. Find each piece in my shop!

Bee Keeper Collection: in the studio

I don't like to catch myself when working at home in my robe past noon. Right about the time I switch from coffee to green tea and settle in for an afternoon of blogging, editing, and creating I try and make myself feel inspired with clothing + a bold accessory. I may not see anyone for the day, and maybe I will get a quick stroll in, but either way I like to look + feel like the owner of a vintage shop. Half the fun is playing dress up, right? (I have a feeling my mum is going to join in with some fun story telling soon...) Find each piece in my shop!

Bee Keeper Collection: spring + wool

It was not until I got these photos back a local photographer took of some of the items in my shop that I saw how whimsical wool can be as spring blooms. I like the softness of the honeyed brown wool skirt paired with the simplicity of the white tank top. Heavy materials can be worn as the weather warms, just take off the cardigan and add a little sunned hue like soft yellow or natural white. Find each item in my shop!

Friday Collection: the weekender

Between moving the room + the office I am taking the weekend off to breath and re-boot! I will be back Monday chalked full of inspiration for the week: new collections in the shop, new artists I love, and the final unveiling of my new space. Find each piece here in my shop!

Have a lovely weekend!

Tuesday collection: sweet pink

It has become a personal mission to wear more color, and I think I am doing a better job of layering color over my white, black, brown, and charcoal staples. One color I am not afraid to play with is soft pink. When worn well it is elegant and as classic as black. I found this cotton dress, straight out of the 1970's, just a week ago and secretly want to hold onto it until the weather warms just enough to wear it once. Find each piece in my shop!

Saturday Collection: NE Alberta Street

I love the city I dwell in: Portland, Oregon. I have been here just about two years and have days I forget I lived anywhere else and days when I stare at the city in ah that I get to live here. There are many hot spots in the city, neighborhood streets with their local claim to fames. One of my very favorites is NE Alberta. It’s a quiet street in the NE corner of Portland, filled with grandfathered in car shops, new artists spaces, coffee + tea shops, and of course an array of food from pasta to an old bus entirely dedicated to grilled cheese, appropriately named The Grilled Cheese Grill. I find myself wandering it’s popular 30 some blocks on Saturday’s for coffee, eggs, and sometimes new art supplies or a handmade necklace. I heart PDX.

Wednesday collection: spring break

The spring rain that brings all those bright flowers blooming to the surface has come to Portland and although it will yield beauty it is a tad dismal. The weather is of course making me crave sun which is where spring break comes in! I don't exactly get a week off to spend on a warm beach, but if I did I would wear lots of soft cotton, bright turquoise and open toe sandals. Not so sure I would bring the tea cup along, but I imagine on vacation sipping my morning coffee out of this over looking the ocean.

All items are new to my shop!

Sunday Collection: City Dweller

I found these red wedge sling backs while thrifting over my long weekend home and loved everything about them! The sling back of course, the little gold buckle and that adorable bow. I imagine these would be great for that Sunday jaunt to brunch in your favorite city. Find each piece in my shop!

tuesday collection: gold at heart

Seeing how the details are my favorite part of vintage, you can't speak of details without looking at all the gold. Now some gold can be tacky, too bold, and a thick gold chain will always invoke images of the eighties. But if you take that down just a notch those small gold details can be lovely! That was the detail I fell in love with on these teal pumps. Find the rest of the collection in my shop!

Friday Collection: the little things

It's the little things that I find so much fun about vintage: scalloped edging, a velvet bow, gold clasps, or timeless colors. These are the details that won't fade and these are the details that make telling their story addicting. Find these and other little details in my shop!

Wednesday collection: summer + Furstenberg

I saw this print from across a thrift shop and loved the simple + warm print, and then I stumbled on the tag and grabbed this lovely Diane Von Furstenberg. In the same weekend of browsing I found these honey wooden platforms and as soon as I slipped into them I was in love. I imagine this as being one of those dresses that would just feel great walking around in. And those dresses are priceless! Find the rest of this mid-week collection in my shop.
